We are often asked whether there are any books which we can recommend for pupils. The website: https://schoolreadinglist.co.uk shows lots of good choices for individual year groups. 

We are using 'The Write Stuff' teaching approach from Jane Considine, which provides a scaffold for children to base their own writing. We make use of the 'writing rainbow' in order to plan and draft our writing.

For our English lessons, we have 4 writing lessons per week using Jane Considine’s ‘The Write Stuff’. We look at narrative/non-fiction maps to see at an overview of the topic and practise writing during sentence stacking lessons. We then plan and write an alternative version of the genre we’ve been learning. For 1 lesson per week, we practise grammar skills linked to each year group’s National Curriculum objectives.

Outside of our English lessons, we also practise our reading comprehension skills every day and practise our letter formation and letter joins during handwriting sessions 2 times per week.
